Earth Day has come and gone, but there's never a wrong time to be environmentally conscious. What better way to celebrate than to have a picnic out there in nature?

We've got a few recipes for you, and they all work with our Aquaheat products! The best part? They're eco-friendly. They use little heat packets that are water activated and are biodegradable. Check out how easy they are to use:

Here's one of my favorites. I make it all the time, and it's super easy, and pretty healthy, too!

1) Turkey chili

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • Chili powder (to taste)
  • Red pepper flakes (to taste)
  • 1 can of chili stewed tomatoes
  • 1 can of chili black beans (or you can use 1 cup of fresh black beans!)
  • 1/4 cup chopped yellow onion
  • Optional: 1/2 cup corn, 1/2 cup sweet peas

Directions:

  1. Heat large pan - one with high sides works well because you're going to be putting a lot of stuff in here.
  2. Cook ground turkey, medium-med/high temperature. Season with chili power and red pepper flakes. (I usually leave the red pepper flakes out so that people decide how spicy they want it to be.)
  3. Add in onions.
  4. Add tomatoes and chili beans. Lower temperature to simmer and cover for 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  5. Add corn and peas, let simmer for another 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and store.

How does this fit with Aquaheat?

If you're anything like me, you think food prep is the best. So this will make a bunch of chili. You're probably not going to eat it all at once, so when you're ready to go, put it in your Aquaheat Mega Warmer, and then follow the directions from the video above to have hot chili on the go!

Don't want a full mean at your picnic? Bring some chips, sprinkle cheese on top, and heat. You have your very own chili dip to snack on!

2) Mac and Cheese (Original recipe HERE!)

Ingredients:

  • 1 (8 ounce) box elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1/4 cup of flour
  • A pinch of salt and black pepper
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook elbow macaroni in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite, 8 minutes. Drain.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat; stir in flour, salt, and pepper until smooth, about 5 minutes. Slowly pour milk into butter-flour mixture while continuously stirring until mixture is smooth and bubbling, about 5 minutes. Add Cheddar cheese to milk mixture and stir until cheese is melted, 2 to 4 minutes.
  3. Fold macaroni into cheese sauce until coated.

How does this fit with Aquaheat?

Put all of in the Mega Warmer, or put a single serving in the Solo Food Warmer to warm it up.

What if I don't want to bring something warm?

Aquaheat is made of food-grade, high quality stainless steel, and has the plastic container around it, which means it can also keep cool food crisp and fresh for longer. Try making a salad, or cutting up fruit into fun shapes for your littles!

What else is Aquaheat good for?

YOU! Bring your soup, your oatmeal for breakfast, or cook your healthy quinoa in it. Steam your kale, warm up leftovers for lunch, bring it tailgating! Seriously, this stuff is phenomenal. We even have college kids that use it in the dorms! And there's a bottle warmer, too!
